Formed at the beginning of 1982 by vocalist and songwriter Andi Sex Gang, the band quickly made a name for themselves in the London underground scene with their intense theatrical live performances and unique brand of sound and onstage visuals.
Sex Gang Children's first EP 'Beasts' was released in June 1982 and became one of the best selling UK 12" singles, remaining in the indie charts for the next 18 months.
Their seminal debut album 'Song and Legend', released in 1983 shot straight to No. 1 in the indie charts, but only entering the top 50 in the UK mainstream.
Cited as an early influence by the likes of Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden and Danzig, Sex Gang Children have never compromised in their approach to the art, with songs such as Deiche, Sebastiane and Mauritia Mayer remaining to this day alternative and goth club favourites all over the world.
In the last 20 years the band have regularly headlined the major alternative and Goth festivals in the UK and Europe. In 2008 the band were invited to headline the Batcave's 25th Anniversary celebration in London.
In 2013 they released the critically acclaimed album 'Viva Vigilante!'. Returning from two sell-out concerts in Tokyo to perform an exclusive anniversary show in London, a celebration of three decades of art attack.
Their latest studio album 'Oligarch' was released in 2021 on Liberation London.
